Five years ago our local venue (and the location of The Swellers first ever show) closed down. The Flint Local 432 is where Nick and I worked every weekend for years, where we made most of our friends, and had some of the most memorable shows of our lives. Just recently after a gracious grant from a kind foundation, the venue is coming back late this spring.

I let my friends at Alternative Press know what we were working on by bringing back the venue and trying to help out Flint in any way we could. They were kind enough to let me write an Op-Ed piece about the importance of local venues in the new issue. I am very passionate about where I'm from, the place that helped launch ours musical careers and I am so happy I was given this opportunity by such a great magazine.

Please check out the latest issue of Alternative Press with the AP Tour on the cover and hopefully my story can help inspire you to take pride in your music scene and help your community!
