News - This Providence

  • I can't believe it's already been a month since my last blog. Time really does fly when you're having a good time. The past feels almost as surreal as the future. Haha. Fuck me, I hate reading blogs like this. I can a bit of be a sentimental bastard, suppose that's why I like song writing.

I'll keep it brief this time. Let me just say, resulting from no single significant event, the last few months have been some of the most rewarding of my life. I've undergone a lot of growth in a lot of different areas. I feel more myself than I have in years. Maybe I'm being naive, but I've come to a place where it feels as if I can take on the world, simply by being unabashedly myself AND by taking life a little less seriously. At the very least, it's working for me so far.

    That's all,
    Dan

  • As I write this, I'm on a 737 headed home from dirty 'ol LA to beautiful Seattle. No offense to those of you who reside there. It's just not my thing...and yeah, it's dirty. Are you really going to try and deny that?! I mean, it's way fun and I know there's worse, but...c'mon. Haha. Alright, nuff of that. I'm done being immature...for now.

I just spent the last 6 days staying in David's apartment - also a bit on the dirty side. Actually, that's harsh and inaccurate, let's call it messy. Promise me you won't tell David I said so! He was and is still on tour with his girlfriend's project, Katelyn Tarver. She just released an EP. Check it out, girl's got some pipes!

Despite David's absence, I wasn't alone. He's been living with his sister Brittany and buddy Scott.

  • from Dan Young of This Providence:

Well there's not too much to report from my dingy little home-studio in Seattle aside the inevitable, music and rain. I've been saturated in both. Well kind of, it's not like I take a seat on the lawn with my guitar in the downpour, it's just been raining far more than I approve of. Why do I live in Seattle if I hate the rain so much? Because I love everything else about it more, I suppose.

Recently I took my little sister to see Jimmy Eat World play a good hearty 1 1/2 hour set, drawing from their abundance of musical goodness. I love that band, it's amazing to me that Bleed American came out 10 years ago. That record is still, to this day, a major influence on me musically.

I left the show truly inspired.
