News - The Swellers

  • Jonathan Diener from The Swellers sat down and answered some questions from street teamers and fans. Here is Part 2:

    10. What would you be doing right now if you weren’t touring in this band?

Anto is an electrician, Ryan works at a pizza place, Nick records bands and I… well, I hang out with my dog. I’d probably try to get a job at some music company or join another band. Hopefully The Swellers last forever so I don’t need to think about that one!

    11. What was the last book you read?

I started reading Stephen King’s The Dark Tower series and I’m two books into that and I’m almost done with the second book of The Hunger Games right now. Fun times!

    12. What are your thoughts on Spotify?

    I absolutely LOVE Spotify.

  • Jonathan Diener from The Swellers sat down and answered some questions from street teamers and fans. Here is Part 1:

Does anyone in the band have any pre or post show rituals?
We all have our own set of rules and rituals, but I think the most important law we abide by is NO EATING AN HOUR BEFORE WE PLAY. I’ve had some bad instances with a foot long sub a few years ago… We all make sure to stretch at least 20 minutes before we go on to prevent injury and soreness the next day. A lot of people think they’re invincible, but when you’re on tour your body acts like an 80 year old man. You smell and you hurt everywhere all the time haha!

What are you currently listening to on your iPod?
Right now the number one album I can’t stop listening to is Nada Surf’s ‘The Stars Are Indifferent To

  • First of all, we never got to send out a public statement thanking everyone who made our first full U.S. co-headlining tour a success. One week after I graduated high school in 2006 we got in our van, attached the trailer and went on a 5 week tour. We haven’t stopped doing that, but things just keep getting better and better. After about 3 or 4 years of opening for bigger bands and playing short sets, we’re INCREDIBLY grateful that you guys gave us a chance to prove ourselves pulling our own weight. We honestly didn’t know what to expect and we ended up having smiles on our faces every night. It was a new experience going on tour across the states with 3 bands from the UK and it actually being a success. We loved all the guys and all of you for coming to the shows.

    The second we got home,

  • We've spent a couple of weeks so far on our co-headlining tour across the country with You Me At Six, and it's been a blast. We knew going into it that the musical/stylistic differences between all the bands were going to make this a pretty unique show, and that lots of different types of music fans would be showing up, which is great! [There’s] lots of new music for everyone to sample. Seems to be working well.

Now, the Swellers are a punk rock band. Plain and simple. We get in the van nine months out of the year to play and sweat our asses off, no matter what. We've been doing this for years and are a pretty unstoppable machine when it comes to getting onstage and then getting to the next show.

  • Happy birthday to Anto Boros from The Swellers! He just wrapped up a co-headline tour with You Me At Six and now he's on his way back home with a couple of headline shows along the way. Send a note to @antoboros on Twitter to wish him a happy birthday and stop by to see all the upcoming shows!
